Filiberto "El 7" Garza, 80, died Saturday, October 6, 2007 at Valley Baptist Medical Center in Harlingen.

He was born January 7, 1927 to Alejos and Anastacia (Esparza) Garza in McAllen, and has been a lifelong resident of Raymondville and served his country in the Army during WWII.

He is survived by his wife, Celestina L. Garza, two children, Raul (Janie) Garza of San Benito, Delfa (Joe) Silva of Raymondville, two sisters, Frances Garza and Lydia Lopez, both of Raymondville, six grandchildren, one great-grandchild, also numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers (Juan, Jose and Jesus Garza), four sisters (Maria Esperanza, Eva and Guadalupe) and two sons, (Alfredo and Jose Garza).

A rosary was recited Monday at Duddlesten Chapel and funeral services were celebrated Tuesday at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Burial at Raymondville Memorial Cemetery. Military graveside services were provided by the Harlingen American Legion Post 205 and VFW Post #2410 and Raymondville American Legion Post 390 and VFW Post 6719.

Pallbearers were Eddie Cavazos, Oscar Cavazos, Paul Anzaldua, Juan Garza, Raul Villarreal, Alfredo Garza.Honorary pallbearers were Mark Garza, Mario Garza, Michael Silva.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Duddlesten Funeral Home, Raymondville.
