Burglar sentenced to 10 years in prison

Christopher Pena Christopher Pena The Willacy County and District Attorney’s Office announced today Christopher Pena, 31, of Raymondville, TX was sentenced to 10 years in prison for Burglary of a Habitation. On March 28, 2014, the Raymondville Police Department was dispatched to a residence in Raymondville. Upon arrival, the officer made contact with the owner of the residence who observed the front door to the residence was open. A neighbor witnessed the defendant enter the residence with another individual and remove a black refrigerator from the property and load it onto a pickup and drive away. On April 2, 2014, the second individual who helped remove the refrigerator voluntarily reported to the police department and gave a statement regarding his involvement in the incident. He told the police that he had been asked by a friend to help move a refrigerator that belonged to his friend, the defendant. When he discovered that the refrigerator had been stolen, he decided to go to the police. A warrant of arrest was sworn out for the defendant and was arrested without incident. The District Attorney’s Office would like to thank the Raymondville Police Department for their participation in this case. The case was prosecuted by District Attorney Bernard Ammerman and the First Assistant DA Chuck Mattingly.
