On Monday, September 4, 2017, Nicolas D. Chavez entered into the Lord’s presence.

He was born in La Sara, TX on September 10, 1934, to Leonardo C. Chavez and Estefana D. Chavez.

He is preceded in death by his first wife and mother of eight children, Ignacia O. Chavez, his parents as well; two sons, Jose Alfredo, Leo (Annette) Chavez and two daughters, Dolly Sauceda and Deneva Sanchez.

Nicolas is survived by his loving wife of thirty-six years, Petra E. Chavez, children, Rodolfo N. Chavez (Diana), Nicolas I., Rosa Chavez (daughter-in-law), Irene Arellano, (John), Margarita Mendoza (Juan), Reynaldo (Gloria), Patricia (Alex) de la Fuente, Sylvia Tostado (Joe), Eloy R. Cavazos (Tina), Benjamin Cavazos (Debbie), numerous grandchildren (105+), great-grandchildren and greatgreat grandchildren and siblings, Alicia Clement, Reynalda (Mike) Cantu, Leonardo Jr. (Isabel), Estefana Guerra (Martin), Mariana Renaud (Sam), Benito D. Chavez (Norma), Carrie Chavez, Armando (Rosie) and Clyde (Alma).

Nicolas enjoyed hunting, fishing and playing softball as his past time. He was a plumber owner/operator for Nick’s Plumbing for forty plus years, twenty six of those as a master plumber.

Visitation was held on Wednesday, Sept. 6, and Thursday, Sept. 7, with a funeral service at Trinity Funeral Chapel, in Harlingen, TX.

Honorary pallbearers were Rudy Jr., Jac, Lincoln, Leo, Fred, J.D., Nicolas, Rey Jr. and Xavier.

He was cremated and burial will be held at a later date.
