Advertisement and Invitation for Bids

CITY OF LYFORD, TEXAS

CITY OF LYFORD will receive bids for Street Improvements until 10:00 AM on Friday, August 17, 2018 at the office of the Mayor, Jose G. (Wally) Solis, located at Lyford City Hall, 13550 Main Lyford, at which time the bids will be publicly opened and read aloud.

The project will consist of scarifying old pavement and existing base, then mixing with new lime treated base and repaving with 171 lbs.(11/2 inches) of new Hot Mix Asphaltic Cement Pavement (Type “D”).

Reconstruct Oleander Street from Broadway to Glen Lofton Street (300LF), including relocation of water lines and water services.

Copies of the Bid/Contract Documents may be obtained by depositing $50.00 with Flores Engineers, 305 W. Hidalgo, Raymondville, Texas, 78580, for each set of documents obtained. The deposit will be non refundable.

A bid bond in the amount of 5% of the bid issued by an acceptable surety shall be submitted with each bid. A certified check or bank draft payable to the City of Lyford, or negotiable U.S. Government Bonds (as par value) may be submitted in lieu of the Bid Bond.

Statutory bonds by an acceptable surety for performance of the contract and for payment of mechanics and materials will be required from the successful bidder in the amount equal to 100% of the accepted bid to City of Lyford as a named insured.

In addition, the successful bidder must ensure that employees and applicants for employment are not discriminated against because of race, color, religion, sex, age, disability or national origin. The contractor is encouraged to hire local employees, subcontractors, and purchase local materials.

A pre-bid conference will be held at Lyford City Hall at 10:00 A.M. on Tuesday, August 14, 2018. The City of Lyford reserves the right to reject any or all bids or to waive any informalities in the bidding.

Bids may be held by the City of Lyford for a period not to exceed 60 days from the date of the bid opening for the purpose of reviewing the bids and investigation of the bidder's qualifications prior to the contract award.
